BRISTOL, Tenn. —23 August Many words were used to describe Kyle Busch’s unprecedented NASCAR triple play at Bristol Motor Speedway.
“Greatness,” said Busch’s spotter, Eddie D’Hondt. “Remarkable,” said third-place finisher Jamie McMurray. “Most talented driver on the circuit,” said Busch’s crew chief, Dave Rogers.
The most memorable summation of Busch, though, came well before he became the first driver to sweep the Sprint Cup, Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series races at a track.
During a bombastic opening ceremony for the Irwin Tools Night Race in which drivers selected theme songs and were encouraged to introduce themselves creatively, Brad Keselowski took the mic as the strains of AC/DC faded on the PA.
“Kyle Busch is an ass,” Keselowski told an estimated crowd of 155,000.
Busch’s retort also was a three-letter word.
“Who?” he said when asked about Keselowski.
“I don’t know who you’re talking about.”
Guy who drives the No. 12?
“I saw it,” Busch said, “but I passed it.”
